Recenlty, I, Theresa, was interviewed on The Mystical Positivist radio show/podcast by Dr. Robert Schmidt and Stuart Goodnick. Local folks will be familiar with Rob and Stuart from our wonderful local spiritual bookstore, Many Rivers Books and Tea.
Robert Johnson states in Owning Your Own Shadow that some of the pure gold of our personality is relegated to the shadow because it can find no place in that great leveling process that is culture. For women, this seems to be especially true. How about owning our shadows and therefore owning our power.
Here is a fundamental fact to understand about Time: Without Time there would not be anything material, no physical manifestations.
A few years back my daughter and I were in a minor car accident. The next day I felt jarred by the experience and decided I needed to go for a walk to ground myself. I was glad to be alive and deep into that appreciation as I walked along a dirt path surrounded by oak trees, wildflowers, green grass, a beautiful blue sky. As I observed the natural world around me in this vein of gratitude, I suddenly had the understanding that without Time, none of it would exist. There would be no flowers, no trees, no me, no you, no car accident, no walk the day after, none of it would be possible without the phenomenon of Time.
Recently I was interviewed for the Twisting the Plot Podcast. You can listen to that interview here. Twisting the Plot: New Possibilities for Women over 50. is the brainchild of Dr.Cecilia Dintino and Hannah Murray, both psychotherapists with years of experience in many modalities including Drama Therapy, who noticed when they reached a certain age that there was no roadmap for women over 50. Or … the ones that existed were less than exciting.
What can one say about the majesty of the ocean and how its very life is being threatened in the same sentence? And yet, that is the situation we find ourselves in, the tension and contradiction we must hold in these times.
As Rachel Carson wrote in her beautiful tome to the ocean, The Sea Around Us:
“It is a curious situation that the sea, from which life arose, should now be threatened by the activities of one form of that life”(xiii).
Water is life and the ocean gave birth to all forms of biological life on this planet. Strega Tree Apothecary offers this bracelet and the ritual that comes with it to honor the ocean and allow the wearer be reminded of its beauty and majesty, to hold the ocean in highest regard. There is a prescriptive ritual included at the request of the Kontomble that will take you to the water’s edge to lean more deeply into this connection.
If the living world is made up of lifesystems contained within nested and layered membranes, the importance of the spirit worker attending to the village membrane cannot be underestimated.
What do I mean by spirit worker, village and membrane?
By spirit worker, I mean any human who is called to work on the energetic and spiritual level, with the unseen realms and mostly unseen guides for the purpose of healing, spreading light or affecting change.
Very simply the membrane is the bioenergetic container, boundary, barrier, skin, that protects what is inside from that which is outside. The membrane is permeable, with an intelligence and discernment to decide what gets in and what stays out. The membrane acts as a filter, shield and gatekeeper for what is within the membrane. All lifesystems have membranes from the simple cell to the multicellular, to the complex lifesystems we humans are embedded within. Without a healthy membrane the interior cannot thrive.
